The picturesque town of Calvi, with almost 6,000 inhabitants, is located in the northwest of Corsica in the Department Haute-Corse. Calvi is the capital of the Balagne and about 90 km from Bastia in the north-east. Many visitors like to make comparisons between Calvi and resorts on the Côte d'Azur.
